Mubarak Alkhater
VP, Growth and Business Development, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain

“Being part of the growth team inspires me to explore new ideas and develop new ways of thinking.”

Mubarak Alkhater of Worley.

Mubarak’s career journey with Worley started two years ago as a Process Control Engineer, working on a project in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. Since then, his career has progressed significantly.

“It’s now my job to grow and develop our current and future business in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Our priority is to align the work we’re doing in Saudi Arabia with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and our purpose of delivering a more sustainable world,” says Mubarak.

“For us, this means bringing in our best talent and project ideas to create value across various industries throughout the region. While continuing to build on our portfolio of projects in the area.

“Our teams provide a range of project engineering and project management solutions starting from project concepts and strategies right through to project management. All done through our local teams and offices in-Kingdom and using additional expertise from our global centers of excellence around the world,” he adds.

Transforming project delivery

Mubarak is realistic about the challenges that lie ahead in meeting the ambitious targets set out in Saudi Arabia’s 2030 vision, and what this means for future project delivery.

“To meet these goals will require a huge shift in the way we, as an industry, deliver projects and the timeframe in which they are delivered.

“This is something we looked at in From Ambition to Reality, our ground-breaking series with Princeton University, which explains the five shifts in thinking needed to deliver a net-zero transition.

“These shifts highlight the scale of the task ahead and how a combination of all five can reimagine the way we deliver the mega projects from now on. It will require a great deal of collaboration, digital advancements, and standardized ways of working across the entire supply chain,” he adds.

A workforce fit for the future of Saudi

Mubarak is keen to make sure our people are at the forefront of what we do.

“If we’re to develop these mega projects at the pace and scale required, we need to make sure we have a strong and capable workforce, too.

“We’ve opened up many graduate opportunities to help inspire the next generation to build their career with us in Saudi Arabia. And we’re reinvesting back into our existing talent with continuous training. So, we can keep building a workforce fit for the future and ready to support the ambitious development of projects in the region.”
