“Working in the energy transition space fills me with pride because every project, innovation, or solution I contribute to supports a low carbon future.”

Vinay Parab, Principal Engineer, Worley India

Leading our Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Community of Excellence in India, Vinay Parab plays a key role in driving decarbonization solutions and overseeing projects that promote the adoption of renewable fuels through carbon capture.

Vinay began his career in the oil and gas industry, and for years worked in refinery and upstream projects. As the global focus shifted to sustainable development, he was inspired to move into low carbon technology solutions, including low carbon fuels like e-Methanol.

“I felt a growing sense of responsibility as a process engineer to contribute more directly to building a sustainable future,” he says.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of energy transition. It offers exciting challenges and opportunities to innovate while making a meaningful impact to the environment.”

A versatile solution

Among the decarbonization solutions that Vinay champions, e-Methanol stands out for its versatility. It’s a low carbon solution that serves as a sustainable energy carrier and a cleaner burning fuel while providing a pathway to sustainable chemical production.

Businesses in industries such as shipping, aviation and power generation are increasingly turning to e-Methanol for its potential to reduce carbon emissions. “It has a large existing market and will be an essential component as a chemical feedstock and a lower carbon fuel for shipping and aviation,” explains Vinay.

Demand for e-Methanol is set to grow specifically in the maritime sector in line with new regulations set by the European Union to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. “We’ll see significant adoption as technology matures and regulatory frameworks evolve.”

Building expertise in India and beyond

Vinay has been instrumental in establishing our operation in India to deliver global carbon capture and decarbonization solutions.

“India is central to our global delivery model,” he says. “We’ve established a core team with a strong knowledge base who can provide expertise to projects anywhere in the world.”

“Our goal is to create a knowledge ecosystem that supports the development of sustainable technologies while staying competitive in a rapidly changing market.”

The future of e-Methanol

Vinay sees e-Methanol becoming a key driver of green energy systems, expanding its role in reducing emissions.

“It’s a critical part of decarbonization,” he says. “By capturing CO2 and converting it into a valuable fuel, e-Methanol offers a powerful solution for decarbonizing industries.”
