From lessons learned to knowledge shared
Consistency in how we deliver is what builds trust and long‑term relationships.
After over two decades in the industry, Santosh Zope has learned what separates complex projects that work from those that don’t: people aligned around the same standards and expectations. It’s a belief shaped by a career spanning India, Australia, Latin America and now the United States, working on some of our biggest projects.
Today, as Senior Director of Engineering, Mining, Minerals and Metals in the U.S., he’s applying that perspective to the projects helping shape the future of critical minerals processing in North America.
“In the last 10 years, I’ve worked on many of Worley’s most significant projects worldwide,” he says. “That experience has shaped how I approach both leadership and delivery.”
Putting global experience to work
Recently, Santosh has been putting that perspective into practice on a critical minerals processing plant and infrastructure project intended to strengthen domestic critical mineral supply chains in the U.S.
He leads a multidisciplinary engineering team spanning North America, the United Kingdom and India, bringing global expertise to deliver engineering, procurement and construction support through our integrated Full Project Delivery model.
It’s a practical example of one of his core beliefs: geography shouldn’t change the quality of project outcomes.
“Leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices and regions has reinforced the importance of collaboration, technical excellence and integrating diverse expertise to deliver meaningful outcomes for both the customer and the broader industry.”
Keeping standards high across borders
Major resource customers often work across regions, time zones and operating environments. This means the delivery challenge is as much about alignment as it is about engineering.
“Our customers expect the same quality wherever we work,” he explains.
That consistency doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from aligning technical standards, connecting people across geographies and maintaining continuity as knowledge and work move across teams and locations. By helping teams apply lessons from one location to another, Santosh contributes to reliable, high‑quality outcomes for customers operating at scale.
As Santosh sees it, experience gained on one project should make the next one stronger.
From learning to leading
Since joining Worley in 2008, Santosh’s role has evolved from hands‑on technical work to guiding others, shaping delivery approaches and helping younger engineers build their capability.
“One of Worley’s strengths is how it supports growth,” he says. “I’ve had mentors at every stage, including senior leaders, who helped guide my career.”
That experience now informs how he leads. For Santosh, mentorship isn’t separate from delivery excellence. It’s part of it. Passing knowledge on means the experience Santosh has built over his career doesn’t stop with him. It supports the people around him and the projects they go on to deliver.
The same flexibility that has helped Santosh move across roles, functions and geographies has also helped him balance a demanding global career with life outside work. When family priorities meant he needed to relocate, he experienced that support firsthand.
“When I needed to prioritize my family and relocate, Worley fully supported me,” he says. “That kind of understanding makes a real difference.”
Passing it on
“What I’ve learned, I pass on to others,” he says.
With a career spent learning from people across different projects, disciplines and parts of the world, Santosh now gets to see that experience carried forward by others.
“Seeing younger engineers grow and apply what they’ve learned is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.”
It’s knowledge that keeps moving, strengthening the capability teams take into the next complex project.
For Santosh, it all comes back to people. Across projects, regions and disciplines, the principle is the same: bring together the right expertise, share knowledge freely and maintain high standards. That’s how trust is built, teams stay connected and complex projects are delivered.
