Supporting a large carbon capture and storage project in the Timor Sea
We’ve been awarded a professional services contract by Santos to support its Bayu-Undan Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project.
The Bayu-Undan CCS project is expected to store up to 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum. This is equivalent to about 1.5 percent of Australia’s annual carbon emissions. The project has the potential to be one of the largest CCS projects in the world and one of the many that will be critical to transitioning to a low-carbon future.
The Bayu-Undan offshore gas production facility
The Bayu-Undan CCS project will be delivered by our office in Perth, Australia and supported by our global teams. We’ll provide front-end engineering and design (FEED) services for the Bayu-Undan offshore facilities and pipeline. This includes converting the offshore facility from hydrocarbons production to carbon dioxide injection plus repurposing the offshore gas export pipeline to carbon dioxide service. We’ll also provide FEED services for the life extension of the Bayu-Undan facility and pipeline to enable continued safe and reliable operation.
“This project is a great example of how the world is transitioning towards low-carbon solutions. Our role is to help our customers navigate through this transition as we remain focused on delivering a more sustainable world,” said Ross Weiter, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Lead, APAC.
