Worley selected by Energinet for flagship hydrogen pipeline project in Denmark
Worley has signed a five‑year Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services contract by Energinet to support Phase 1 of the Danish Hydrogen Backbone pipeline.
The Danish hydrogen infrastructure is a cornerstone project in Denmark’s ambition to build a national hydrogen transmission network. The pipeline will link large‑scale green hydrogen production from wind and solar with Germany and wider European markets – strengthening regional energy security and accelerating the green transition.
Under the contract, Worley will deliver EPCM services for approximately 41 km of new hydrogen pipeline and the conversion of around 89 km of existing natural gas pipeline, along with adjacent infrastructure required to support Denmark’s future hydrogen network.
“This is an important milestone for our Nordic region and for Europe’s hydrogen ambitions. We are proud that Energinet has chosen Worley to help deliver such a critical part of energy infrastructure,” said Jan Narvestad, SVP Nordics.
Worley’s global network will support the project, which will be led from Denmark with contributions from the wider Nordic team, the UK, and India.
“Our regional expertise, combined with our global capabilities, positions us strongly to support customers who are building the foundations of a low‑carbon future. Danish Hydrogen Backbone pipeline is exactly the type of project where we can make an important contribution to the green transition – safely, collaboratively and at scale,” Narvestad concludes.
Commissioning of the Danish Hydrogen Backbone pipeline is currently expected by late 2030.
