From Women of Worley to Black History Month, we're celebrating our people and networks

While 2020 hasn’t been easy, our people have pulled together from all over the world to support each other in all areas of life, through our close-knit networks.

This has not just been noticed internally. Two of our people and teams have been announced winners at the 2020 GRIT Awards, which celebrate energy professionals who have shown growth, resilience, innovation, and transformation throughout their careers. And more specifically, over the last few months.

Traci Clarke, an Assurance Advisor from Houston, was a winner in the Individual Group category due to her work ethic, drive and passion to create an environment in which women, their allies, and champions will thrive. Traci was also a driving force behind the Worley/Jacobs ECR women’s network merger.

“I am a big believer in the merited advancement of women in the workplace,” said Clarke. “Working with ALLY by Pink Petro through Women of Worley has been so inspiring. It provides invaluable resources and networking opportunities for women in industry. To be part of this community and recognized for my contribution is fantastic.”

Angelique Palacios, Deskside Support, also from Houston, made the final after joining the Women of Worley network last year to provide technical solutions. She has grown both personally and professionally, which has happened directly because of her involvement with the networking group.

“I was shocked to be nominated and recognized for the work I do for Women of Worley,” said Palacios. “But it’s exciting and a huge honor, too. It shows that stepping out of your comfort zone, hard work and dedication can open doors you never knew existed.”

Kuumba, our Black people network, was also a winner in the Affinity Groups category. This network supports our efforts to attract and retain the best talent, promote leadership and development at all ranks, and provides an internal support system. It also provides a place where everyone can learn. In October, we’re celebrating Black History month in the UK with events and guest speakers to raise awareness of this important subject.

“Kuumba Houston has had the chance to lead our workforce in having uncomfortable but needed conversations to stress the importance of diversity and inclusion among our work family,” said Robin Evans, Houston President Chair of Kuumba. “We've recently expanded our reach and now have over 200 members globally. With this increased influence, we must keep these conversations going and push for positive change that impacts Worley from the inside out.”
