Supporting the search for future construction talent
Did you know the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) predicts the construction industry will need one million new trade and craft professionals by 2023, in the US alone?
Right now, we have nearly 4,500 people working in construction and related fields in the US. But we want to spread the word about construction career paths, address the public perception of careers within this industry, and help narrow the skills gap, too.
That’s why we’ve signed a pledge to support Build Your Future’s Careers in Construction Month (CICM) throughout October. Build Your Future was set up by the NCCER to be the catalyst for recruiting the next generation of craft professionals.
By signing the pledge with NCCER, we are committed to inspiring and encouraging future generations throughout the US to consider construction as a career.
“I sit on the board of directors for NCCER, and it’s becoming increasingly important to captivate the minds of students and show them what a career in construction can do for them,” said Scott Marshall, Senior Group Director for People Operations Americas at Worley.
“At Worley, we’re also dedicating one week – from 19 to 23 October – to target students and talk to them about a career in construction. We want to guide America’s youth and displaced workers into opportunities that lead to long-term and rewarding careers and in doing so unlock the brilliance that exists therein.”
