Worley awarded contract to support battery materials production facility in Louisiana
Worley has been awarded an engineering and design services contract by Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials to support the development of a lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF₆) production facility at Orbia’s site in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, United States.
LiPF₆ is an essential component used in lithium‑ion batteries and plays a critical role in battery materials supply chains. The facility will be Orbia’s first large‑scale LiPF₆ production facility in the United States, supporting growing demand for battery materials.
Under the contract, Worley will provide engineering and supply chain services, including modularization and construction support. The work will be delivered through Worley’s Louisiana office. The scope includes automating as many manual operator tasks within the process as possible to support Orbia’s operations.
“This award reflects our capability to support increased customer demand for work in energy transition materials. We are pleased to continue the work we have done in previous phases of this strategically important project for Orbia, supporting the lithium‑ion battery supply chain,” said Chris Ashton, Chief Executive Officer of Worley.
Worley has extensive experience supporting customers across the battery materials and energy transition minerals sector. Our teams are experts in applying process engineering, supply chain, and construction support capabilities to help deliver critical infrastructure across the asset lifecycle.
