The toughest problems are never solved in isolation. For me, the reward is uniting brilliant minds to design solutions that change what’s possible.

Headshot of Juanita Neufeld of Worley Consulting.

Juanita Neufeld’s career spans two decades, beginning at an integrated energy company in human resources. Her curiosity about how organizations work – and how they can work better – led her into organizational effectiveness and change management.

A pivotal moment came when she led people readiness for an autonomous truck implementation and was introduced to human-centered design (HCD). That moment redefined how she approaches transformation.

Human-centered design at the heart of transformation

Since then, HCD has shaped every aspect of her work. Juanita embedded its principles into every project and later took on a strategic role scaling HCD across the enterprise. She joined Worley in Calgary, Alberta, four years ago, and now applies her expertise in heavy industrial environments, helping customers overcome their most complex business challenges, drawing on experience across the energy and mining sectors. She and her team work across Worley Consulting’s offering areas to translate strategy into action.

Designing for impact

Juanita’s work spans strategy, service and process design, and digital solution delivery, including high‑level strategy with actionable roadmaps and digital solution implementation. Her strength lies in looking beyond the surface – finding root causes and interdependencies others may overlook. She’s a strong advocate for aligning human needs with business outcomes, ensuring that solutions deliver real impact.

“Technology is being created at an increasing pace. Understanding how best to leverage it to meet business needs requires a deep understanding of the business and the people in it – their processes, tools, and motivations.”

Looking ahead

As new technologies – including AI – mature and deliver measurable business value, Juanita argues success depends on aligning human needs with business drivers. Human‑centered design moves from a project-level tool to the foundation for business strategy, technology roadmaps, and solution selection.

“The future belongs to organizations that design with humans in the loop – because only then can transformation truly take hold.”
